Changelog (html5) — April 13, 2021 (race mode!)

Version 0.7.13 — Race mode!

Race mode race mode race mode!

You can select up to four creatures (local or from the server) and plop 'em into a short corridor. First creature that reaches the end wins. Or the last one standing. Up to you, really. ;)

I'm excited to use this glowy golden pokeball capture effect that I made for levels a few years ago but got depreciated when I switched to open-sandbox tutorials instead.

Other changes:

  • Open-sea maps will wrap; no more swimming off forever into the abyss.
  • The browser version is now hosted on its own site at crescentloom.com instead of on a janky wordpress page. The Connectome and Action Potential explorers now also have their own pages there.
  • Muscle gif in the tutorial is now a draggable window.
  • Eye sightlines are no longer drawn after an eye has been detached; they tended to spin like a hyperactive lighthouse.

Changes to the Connectome Explorer:

  • Made the map more open; creatures will no longer immediately run headfirst into a wall.
  • Stimulation events are shown on the graph as colored boxes.
  • Fixed bug where ablating certain cells would freeze the graph.
  • Made a bunch of little how-to pills on the website beneath the game to explain how to use the different tools.
  • Added cell names to the actual display so you don't have to click each one to see their names.
  • Added little recording probe graphics to cells you currently have selected.

Oh, that's a good idea! Yeah, I'll add giving more back-room to the todo list.
